Questions & Answers

Q: How do I become a Client?
A: Please click on the link “Become a Client” This will take you to your Family Feature Sheet. Once you have filled this out, the manager will look over your profile and activate your account. This can take up to 24 hours. You will recieve a confirmation email once you have been activated and then be able to start requesting babysitters. Please check your spam/junk folder if you have not recieved an email from us within 24 hours.

Q: Does it cost money to be a Client?
A: NO! The only fees you are responsible for paying are the hourly rates when you use a babysitter. There are no joining fees, monthly dues, or termination fees.

Q: How will I know if my babysitting service has been accepted by a Helper?
A: You will receive an automated email stating your babysitting request has been accepted. You will also receive a phone call from the helper, who will introduce herself, and confirm the days and times.

Q: How do I pay for my service?
A: Your helper will report her hours to A Helping Hand. You will receive an emailed invoice within 14 days after your service.  You can pay this invoice online for free! Please note that invoices must be paid within 5 days of receiving the invoice. Any outstanding invoices are subject to late fees.

Q: How do I cancel my service?
A: Sign into your account, and under "Service Requests" select "Current Request" and use the cancel button. If you are canceling an accepted babysitting request with less than a 24 hour notice, you will be charged a $39 cancellation fee. Please note that the Foundation does not cover cancellation fees.

Q: What if my requested helper isn’t available?
A: Your requested helper has 24 hours to accept your babysitting request. If she is not available, you will receive an email stating your requested helper is not available. Your babysitting request will become open to the remaining helpers, and will be accepted by a different helper.

Q: How do I change the times or date of a babysitting service if the babysitting job HAS NOT been accepted?
A: Sign into your account and select "Service Requests", then "Current Request", and click on the edit button.

Q: How do I change my babysitting service’s times or dates if the babysitting job HAS been accepted?
A: Once it has been accepted by a helper, you do not have access to change the times or date. If you need to change the time, please contact your sitter or management and we will ask if the sitter is available for the new times. If the sitter is not available for the new times, or you need to change the service date, please cancel the request and post a new request. (If you give less than a 24 hour notice, you will be charged a $39 cancellation fee)

Q: I need a sitter tonight, is it too late to post my babysitting request?
A: Although we prefer a 48 hour notice for babysitting requests, we do not discourage anyone from posting their babysitting needs. If we can fill your request, we certainly will.

Q: Is there a minimum time frame for my service?
A: Yes, we have a 3 hour minimum on all services. If you do not use the full three hours , you will be billed for the three hour minimum.

Q: Are the Helpers allowed to accept tips?
A: YES! Please feel free to tip your helper directly if you feel she has gone “above and beyond” for your family. If you would like A Helping Hand to include a tip on your invoice, please leave feedback for your service, and include the amount of tip you would like to give to your helper.
